Minas Baratheon and some of his Knights of the Storm Guard made a slight detour from the rest of the Baratheon party, who happened to be riding north with the Royal Family. He and his men turned slightly northeast when they reached Lord Harroway's Town, where the River Road and the King's Road intersected. They began heading towards the Vale, where Minas hoped to intercept the Arryn's who would be traveling north to Queenscrown.

They stopped in a small village along the road, at a pleasant inn. Minas sent a rider north, in the direction of the Vale, to greet the Lady Arryn and her party. The rider quickly found the caravan that had departed from the Eyrie, and greeted the Knight who was in the lead. "Greetings Ser of the Vale. I am Ser Cailan Lonmouth, Knight of the Storm Guard and vassal of Lord Minas Baratheon. I bring a message frrom my noble Lord. He is waiting to ride north with the Lady Arryn nearly one mile down the road at a roadside inn. Shall I take you to him?"

The Arryn caravan was lead by Donnel Royce with Lady Lanya and Alehander close behind. Behind the van rode Hose Arryn's bannermen. Bellmores, Borrells, Redforts, Royces and others took up the entire road. Infantry, supplies and camp followers trailed behind the mounted contingent. A cool breeze blew at their backs, channelled down the mountain pass, ruffling cloaks and banners. The wind carried just a hint of chill.

Ser Donnel saw a rider approaching and called the caravan to a halt. Lanya squinted into the setting sun, following the knight's gaze. It was not long before the colors of House Baratheon were visible. Donnell waved the envoy to approach.

Ser Donnell nodded to the new arrival. "I am Ser Donnell Royce and this is the Lady Lanya Arryn. Lead on, good ser."

Ser Lonmouth led the Lady Lanya and her party down the road, southeasterly towards the inn where Lord Minas waited. They arrived shortly, and Minas Baratheon stood ready to greet them. He wore his gold and silver ceremonial armor, once belonging to Agrilac the Arrogant the Storm King, now adorned with the stag of the Baratheons. He donned a long, black cape and wore thick, leather gloves and glossy boots.

When Lady Lanya reached him, he performed a mannerly bow. “My Lady,” he spoke with a thunderous voice, “it is an honor to meet you here at the border of the Vale. I trust your journey thus far from the Eyrie has been pleasant? Shall we continue along the road, or would my Lady prefer to stop and rest here at this inn?”
