The Premise

The year is 90 AL, the king is Jaehaerys I Targaryen, called the Conciliator, grandson to Aegon the Conqueror. All Westeros is under Targaryen dominion (save of course for those pesky Dornish). The uprising of the Faith Militant has finally been quelled, their organization disbanded. The king and his sister-wife, the Good Queen Alysanne, rule with justice and benevolence (and dragons) from their castle at King’s Landing. It’s even summer, and has been so for some three years. All is perfectly tranquil, by which of course I mean that all is a hair away from war and chaos but everyone’s playing at being friends. (Dragons, and all that.) Our story opens with the Good Queen’s granting of the New Gift to the Night’s Watch, and the subsequent tourney and feast at the newly-dubbed Queenscrown Castle in her honor.
